Hmm, not 100% sure this is a dark pattern so much as it is idiotic design. I remember it being quite common for sites to hide the real checkbox/radio button and use a custom component for it, since the former were difficult to style via CSS alone.
It being removed from the tab order and being inaccessible to keyboard users is awful, but that could easily be poor engineering where accessibility has been completely neglected. Which itself is sadly a common problem online.
