The numerals are not Roman - they are Arabic numbers (yes, actually of Indian origin etc., I know) and are pretty much universal AFAIK. Definitely everywhere I have been including places in South and South East Asia that use non Latin lettering.
Considering the fascinating bility of the brain toearn and adapt I wonder how hard it would really bee to read those numbers if we were surrounded by them all the time. (Doing maths in Roman numerals is more complicated than Arabic decimals,though)
