This has also been the case with Win95, many users had trouble using the mouse, trying to raise it in the air in order to raise the cursor on the screen etc.

While I'm not sure about Metro's usefulness for laptops and desktops, I do think that the real test for the cancellation of the start button is whether the learning curve is short, and the change, once you've mastered it, is perceived as an improvement.
