I’d be interested to hear what this would sound like if each function call weren’t converted to a nice-sounding arpeggio first… I suspect it wouldn’t sound as good, but would be happy to be proven wrong!


Most music stripped down to the harmonic skeleton (or otherwise the basis, if it is whatever some algorithm yields, or some non-harmonic basis, such as a rhythmic pattern or otherwise something not in the Western harmonic tradition) is too bland, hence there usally being more work done to extend and elaborate on the basis by way of counterpoint, ornamentation, arpeggio, etc etc etc

For the video on the page, the bell-like instrument very much suits an arpeggio texture. Something with sustains (say, a cello) would need a different treatment.
