There's something to that POV. I respect Open Library a whole lot more than Libgen, because I know Open Library will always be able to do their work in the open. There's a whole lot of content which can be legally available due to its age, and we should strive to make that as easy as possible to find for the average user.

It's blocked in France. Same was true for z-lib when it still existed. Thankfully Sci-Hub.ru (the main one) was never blocked here (that I know of).
