A few years ago I worked at a "normal" (non-FAANG), small-sized (~100 employees) British company. One policy was that anyone could take a 6-month sabbatical every 2 years, of which the first 30 days paid as normal holidays.
I took advantage of that myself to spend time with my partner and 6-month-old baby, one of my best choices ever. I've worked at other small/mid companies with similar policies.
Long story short: in my experience normal companies often give more work-life balance than FAANG (or other corporate environments), they just don't hit the news as much.
