Helveticards - Minimalist Typography Cards for the Typophile, Gambler (designtaxi.com)

I love the design on these, but on a practical level it looks to me that you might be able to glean some information on what's on the face side of the card by looking at the edges, since the designs are full-bleed.

Good point, plus the kerning on '10' is way too tight. Great idea though.

There are 2 issues with these cards for gamblers:

1) Not symmetric when rotated 180degrees about the center; this is an issue as it allows for certain side-channel communication

2) full bleed; most cards have a white border for a reason: you can't glean information from looking at the edges

These are exactly the first two things I thought. Design without requirements really turns me off.

I know it's incredibly nitpicky and obviously a concious design decision for a "minimalist" set of cards, but I really miss the stems on the spade and club symbols.

See also Vinolentis http://store.artlebedev.com/toys/card-games/36-54/vinolentis... and http://www.artlebedev.ru/everything/vinolentis/ from 2006.

Unfortunately, they turned out to be very inconvenient to play with.

Could you elaborate on why they were inconvenient?

It was difficult to recognize and distinguish them quickly. Like an interface without icons.

How are these minimal? I see information repeated all over the place.

For a somewhat more whimsical take, see http://store.artlebedev.com/toys/card-games/36-54/space-inva...

Loving these, although the Russian symbol for queens ("A" instead of "Q") took some getting used to.

That's actually not an 'A', but a 'Д': letter phonetically similar to 'D'.

For "dame".

They look pretty cool! Reminds me of the "Type Trumps" series a designer friend of mine created: http://typetrumps.com/

Site seems to be fairly stressed. Here's the link to the designer's page: http://helveticards.uberdm.com/

Cute, and they have 54 cards, so I assume there are two Jokers (as a Canasta player, that's important!)

$10 for a deck of cards (+$6 for shipping) is kinda expensive, though, particularly since I'd need two.

But are those Joker cards different, so that you can use this deck easily for your secret messages [1]?

I don't consider $10 expensive. If the cards are well-made they should last for years (at least that's how long the decks around me seem to exist, some are older than a decade).

For comparison, a typical Kickstart project for Bicycle manufactured playing cards is $5 w/ free shipping.

They are on sale for $7.50 on Fab, until they were sold out that is. Says "Restocking Soon" and when they do, I'm buying two.

Side note: it is the first time I see sharing links or Western site that include a Chinese SNS (here it is Renren). Maybe it is localized to me, though.

Love the design of this deck, but that may be the problem. They look almost too nice to play with.

Another card game with nice design is the SEO card game SERPs & Spyders: http://SERPsandSpyders.com - you learn and build SEO tactics and strategies in Magic the Gathering style gameplay.

Never got the love for Helvetica, but that's some nice design and colors.

You want to make $85 hourly and $7000 per month like me just working on laptop for few hours! Would you like to be your own boss!Opportunities like this don't come by often. Don't let this one pass you by! CashHuge. com
