Latency is 1h 20m one way (1.5M km / 300_000 km/s)?

EDIT: got my units wrong, see further down the thread.



More like 5 seconds - (1.5e6 km)/(300_000 km/s) is 5.0 seconds. This makes sense as the Sun is 8 light-minutes away from Earth and JWST is closer to Earth than the Sun.


It only takes ~8 minutes for light to reach us from the sun, so that seems wrong.

1.5 * 10^9 meters / (3.0 * 10^8 meters/second) = 5.0 seconds.


Ah right, I got my units wrong! Good thing I'm not in middle school any more!
