Someone else linked an gif comparing against our previous best photo of that star:

. Presumably astronomers knew those blobs were galaxies, but no details could be resolved.

The spitzer image is 3.6um IR, I think the webb alignment images are at 2um... pretty big difference in resolution just due to the wavelength.
