I remember as a kid in the 80s trying to do simple things like draw diagonal lines.... painful.... then wanting to draw a circle. That was even more painful. My dad was a physicist and taught me the math needed.... I can remember watching with awe as my circles render slowly. Fun times. I was super impressed when I saw programs draw circles quickly. Now, it's all trivial! But I'm sure many would be lost if the only thing they could do is set a single pixel!


Drawing diagonal lines as a kid in the 80s is exactly how I started :) My very first program (or at least the first one I have evidence of) was about drawing a bunch of lines on a ZX Spectrum [0]. I should make one of these "how it started / how it's going" things.
