Oracle has IaaS and PaaS solutions now....

and the point of the article is that they're light and provide no where near the optionality and features of AWS.

Amazon doesn't really have a PaaS though, right?

One could argue the entire suite of AWS products make up a PaaS. One could also argue that Elastic Beanstalk is their standalone PaaS offering.

https://aws.amazon.com/elasticbeanstalk/

Except that isn't really a PaaS when stacked up to the others like App Engine, Heroku, and Azure.

IaaS, PaaS and SaaS - all three layers of the Cloud.

I think even farther back with the overthrow of the Shah in Iran it started

If only they had an OEM to do this, with a plant in Texas....

I'm in the 90th percentile in household salary in my country. I'm single so double my salary to accomodate the 2.5 people living on average, and I jump to to the 93rd percentile.

Ooyala has only 3 data scientists. All have PhDs and come from a math/statistics/com sci background. Kueski only has 1!

You need to know the background which is Statistics Discrete Math Algorithms

Most books on the subject assume you already know what linear regression is, Naive Beyes is just explained briefly theoretically and it goes right into the code in spark, R or Clojure for example. However UC Berkeley's course is very theoretical, almost no code is shown and its just MATLAB code (don't remember the name off the top of my head), their spark course though is heavy on the code with IPython activities.

Hardware releases

Mac Mini is 1.5 years old, Mac Pro is >2 years old, 13" Macbook Pro is 1 year next month (and conspicuously absent from rumors of Apple's upcoming announcement event, gotta release those watch bands though).

The iPhone is definitely on a 1-year cycle, but it's not really something they put effort into maintaining on their computers. MacBook Air and iMac are probably the closest.

I blame iOS/Mac features tie-in like Continuity. OS X definitely gets the short end of the stick from that.

theres 500 stars in a radius of 50 light years. hopefully we will find plantes there, a planet 1400 ly away is cool but very distant still if we want to study it in detail
