I read that line by Mark Antony from Julia Caesar to my 3yo yesterday morning. He usually shushes me by putting his hand over my mouth while I am speaking, but this time he did not. It felt good.

Probably just user error, but I've got eight years of software development experience and can't even get an interview after being let go nine months ago.

I had a calcium score of zero, is that good? Hereditary high-cholesterol.

It is expected to be 0 if you're under 45 years old or so, I think. When I did a CAC test, the results came with charts showing where I was compared to the expected value for my age.

Also, taking a statin can increase the CAC score because statins cause fat build ups to calcify faster which makes them less likely to break free and cause big problems.

If you’re young: Good but doesn’t guarantee anything.

If you’re old: Great! Keep an eye on cholesterol.

CAC is a lagging indicator. Its usefulness is more about assessing damage done, not rate of change or future risk.

hard to say. the score itself is just a small part of what is included in the report. ask to see the full one to see what all the radiologist found.

But can't you just use fish?

Why not just install Powershell for linux?[1]

[1] : https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/scripting/insta...

I could but no one else on my team (which is used to Linux) would touch my scripts.

It’s just too foreign for Linux devs whereas it ships with Windows.

Proprietary 'shell' vs. linux DIY/customized setup.

There are a multiple publically accessible/usable sources which can be found via search engine(s) to extend bash / unix shell functionality based on points discussed in topic link.

few article link topic snippits:

* approaches to autocompletion : [0][1]

* 'man' command and/or cli option -h to cli command shows 'docstring' / options

* jq resources for shell plugin[2]

that is a thing that started under Nadella's leadership, during the 90s it was a different story.

Those two "PowerShell"s are not the same. For the sake of cross platform deployment, they moved away from the original a lot -though they managed to support many things in time. The old and original one was released in 2006,IIRC, so it didn't exist in 90s.

Nowadays a lot of people script in python

Yeah sure after they are done fighting with venv or why this scripts written in a different version of Python behaves differently on this computer...

During scripting they can be constantly annoyed by Python's indentation errors. Really awesome stuff when your syntax is whitespace dependent.

> ... behaves differently on this computer...

vs. in linux, running powershell scripts under a virtualized instance of windows to avoid linux OS / windows OS differences issues?

----

other extreme end of the 'whitespace' spectrum:

APL : no white space / single character instead of multicharacter programming language tokens. Maximum expressiveness without any need for whitespace!

I put a note at the end about that: the lack of a `set -e` / fail fast equivalent was a dealbreaker for me.

The AI of today is just a probability engine, as far as I am concerned. It can create nothing original because it cannot say, "No, I'm starting over from scratch. I alone will figure this out." Once you set an AI in motion, it will complete the task until it needs further input. And the very fact that it is reliant on an external actor continues to enforce just how pre-determined the outcomes already are. Art, I feel, from my human perspective, should be a reflection of its creator. The product is of their mind. No machine is capable of such action, currently.

true. I believe even if AI had its own perspective outside a human one, we would still relate more to a human experience and art would be predominantly a human endeavor.

For some reason I've got Velvet Buzzsaw on my mind now for art talk, which could an AI do and accurately mean? Anything that cannot disregard its own orders, is a calculated machine, in my book; just a calculator from Texas Instruments.

hmm, just thought of Abramovic' Rhythm Zero experiment. I wonder what that would look like if the object was the AI

This is the Latin dream application I had been wanting to create for a decade. From the bottom of my heart, I congratulate you on the new Alexandrian Library.

I'm glad to hear that! Do let me know if you have any feedback on it.

still javascript though

Elon Musk is a Nazi. Nazis are scum.

Yeah, probably pays much better.

Yeah, this really sucks when you have a strong manager who retires and then your supervisor takes over and is a weak manager and you are dying inside wanting to promote the department but they prefer not to rock the boat.
