Guess I'm not a human, I got owned by the imps because I assumed left and right would be strafing instead of turning.

I scrolled the webste twice but I cannot figure out what this object is for?

You have to watch a 30 minute keynote to find out, which is bizarre. No thanks..

Great stuff in this release. Also thanks to the influx of former Unity users a lot of tools / modules / templates have been given a shot in the arm and the general maturity of Godot has increased a great deal recently. Its not yet at a level that some people would want, but its great to see progress.

I don't see why there cannot be both? GDScript is perfectly useful.

I prefer it. I'm not wasting a single second in C# until I have to.

For me it's not whether it's useful, it's whether the tradeoffs are worth it. I assume GDScript has some unique features that make it especially useful in Godot development, but the disadvantage is that the skills aren't transferrable to any other platform or environment. At least C# and C++ are applicable outside of the engines that use them.

The skills are transferrable enough. It's Python with a little syntactic sugar for Godot-specific things.

It's an easy language to pick up for beginners and powerful enough for experienced devs. Kind of the sweet spot for game dev, IMO.

I get what you're saying, but a good chunk of transferable skills are not language-specific. Programming in a video game environment is going to impress some knowledge upon you that is generally useful, regardless of the language you use.

Because as is C# is very noticeably a second class citizen. Something like Godot 4.0/4.1 missing C# support for android/ios/web shows that perfectly imo.

Gotta love a classic Conflict of Interest!

This is a great project, I wish you well in seeing the work again!

If you would like your own ersatz version, lego make a set approximating this lovely art work in their own style.

I built this just a week or two ago. I listened to their podcast¹ about Hokusai, the Great Wave, and the LEGO version; David Bull (mentioned in other threads here) was by far the most interesting guest!

I agree, that was really great! My favourite was Alfred Haft from the British Museum, who is even better on video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCwv0nTNKWE

I've put the LEGO version on my Christmas list :)

I hope the headline writer got the rest of the day off after writing that banger

> "Before you think we are anarchist hippies rejecting all systems and institutions outright"

Not even close, you sound like Libertarian-adjacent technologists who have been believing your own hype / some other equivilent metaphor.

Technology has a role to play in education that is as-yet unrealised and while I cannot speak for all of them, I know the system in place in the UK is behind the curve. The solution to this isn't to pull your kids out and use them as the cornerstone of an individualised experiment but to fight for better funding of the educational system itself. I hope this does not have any negative consequences for the kids who are the recipients of this trial.

Given the degree of Tax Evasion in Italy it makes sense they would be investigating it - after all they are experts!

Joking, of course.

This looks really good, thanks! Really appreciate this and all the other Whisper implementations in this thread as I am sorting up transcriptions for my 120+ podcast episodes.

Awesome!
