That wasn’t intentional though.

Google fucks up Firefox experience so often. For a company that large, both intentionally doing it and ignorance (eg. not testing on Firefox) is actually malice. Pretty much only company that has this problem.

Go check out GCP web UI on Firefox and tell me it's not intentional.

Ooooops! Somebody put this delay here tooooootally by accident and nobody noticed it when shipping to production! Silly devs!

Totally unintentional, I'm sure.

Exactly, like that time they slowed down only chrome and every other browser was still fast. Oh wait that never ever happened.

*provable, you mean

Its only now just arrived in beta on the iPad.

...what is the "it" that just arrived to the iPad?

All the popular ones are all Mozilla monitored, so I don’t agree that pretty much all of them aren’t.

Personally I don’t touch unmonitored addons anyway. There have been incidents of developers selling their Addon to some dodgy buyers who then started abusing it.

Being disabled scripts like these really help me, I can’t sit behind a computer as much as I could before, but it’s still my main hobby.

I do a quick look over of the source to make sure it’s ok. It saves me so much time and pain.

I use Safari for Reddit because of the SinkIt extension:

I am running apollo with a patch to use my own API key. I am not sure what I am going to do when this eventually breaks

Yes it also supports Firefox extensions. Bypass Paywall Clean is a great one.

By what mechanism is it possible for this to be true when Firefox doesn't even support Firefox extensions?

Orion has a port of the web extensions API (used by Chrome and Firefox extensions) on top of WebKit.

That's super interesting. I wonder why Mozilla didn't bother to do this for their own browser.

Mozilla’s priorities are messed up instead of doubling down on browser they are getting into a lot of half assed side projects.

It’s quite difficult to do and the solution is necessarily limited by the inability to modify WebKit.

Is this a joke I'm not getting? Currently using FF on every device I use, with 3+ extensions.

Parent is probably referring to the saga of extension support in FF for Android (it used to support all extensions until around 2019, then it didn't [0], then it did again but only a small number of extensions [1], they only recently got back to supporting a large number, but not all extensions [2])

Ah I see, thanks. I only use Privacy Badger and uBlock Origin on my Android's Firefox, so I never noticed this problem.

On IOS firefox doesn't support any extensions

Fair point, but so should the user.

This is a good reminder to everyone: Your cloud data still needs backing up.

Yep. Cloud storage gives you too many ways out if you make a mistake (recycle bin, revision history) that it kind of hides the fact that it's not a replacement for backups. Plus, you can always get hacked.

3-2-1 guys!

Google’s desktop sync doesn’t actually download googles own files, just files in other formats like pdf. Do you launch a Google takeout request from a from job?

Well, that’s an argument against using file formats that are locked in to a cloud service.

Yeah and a lot of the Ask posts are dominating and seem like bot posts by being a single simple questions.

Yeah make sure the cable is USB-IF certified, you can find the list here (don’t trust Amazon product descriptions):

https://www.usb.org/products

About USB-IF:

“USB Implementers Forum, Inc. is a non-profit corporation founded by the group of companies that developed the Universal Serial Bus specification. The USB-IF was formed to provide a support organization and forum for the advancement and adoption of Universal Serial Bus technology. The Forum facilitates the development of high-quality compatible USB peripherals (devices), and promotes the benefits of USB and the quality of products that have passed compliance testing.”

This unfortunately already exist in europe. Young drivers can get a black box installed in return for a discount on their insurance. This is because those costs for young drivers can be astronomical.

I would never trust a private for profit company with this much data.
